Training for teachers (INSET) and student teachers

Bodhi Tree provides in-service training for primary and secondary teachers and sessions for student teachers.

We offer whole or half day workshops, twilight sessions, and hosted visits to the London Buddhist Centre in Bethnal Green.

We can come to your Professional Development Centre or host an event at the North London Buddhist Centre on Holloway Road, London.

During the sessions we:
- provide a thorough and practical introduction to Buddhism,
- look at the life and teaching of the Buddha,
- give introductions to relevant symbols and artefacts,
- discuss what this all means in practice for different kinds of Buddhist,
- give examples of creative and interactive teaching activities and
- lead through a simple meditation or stilling exercise with guidance on how to use it in the classroom.

Comments from teachers who have attended INSET days:

'Great balance of information, personal experience and practical activities'

'Gave me enough knowledge and activities in order to teach in the classroom'

‘The most valuable aspect of the day were the activities and how to approach topics in a child friendly way!'

'Very enjoyable and all very useful'

'Very informative'

'Clearly presented'
